If you would like more information about nurseries for young children or English language tuition for your spouse, please contact the Language School, College, or University. When you arrive here, your college can also try to put you in contact with other international families.

The majority of airlines have a restriction of 20 kilos of baggage per person. Some airlines such as British Airways offer higher baggage allowances so it is worth comparing ticket prices and excess baggage charges.
You can also send less important items by freight but make sure the customs declaration is completed correctly.

Students are strongly advised to take out insurance on personal property. You are advised to insure your possessions before leaving your country.

If you are travelling with valuables such as computers and cameras, make a note of their serial numbers. You should also keep a record of your credit card numbers and a photocopy of your passport details.

Always keep money in a safe place, as it may not be possible to insure against its loss or theft.

If you wish to take out an insurance policy in the UK, there are many companies in the town or city in your location, also the Language School, College, or University, will have a list of helpful companies.

Please ensure that you or your Language School, College or University have arranged your accommodation in advance. There is usually a choice of Host Families' accommodation. Apartments, Guest houses or hotels.

Accommodation Officer of the Language School, College, or University, will ensure that you are placed in a highly recommended accommodation to suit your requirements.

As a precaution, all young people in England will have received immunisation against Meningitis before coming to university.

All students coming from countries where this may not have been carried out are advised to have received immunisation from Meningitis An. This may be carried out by your Doctor.
